Umphrey’s McGee swept through New York City for two sold out shows at The Beacon Theater. Every time I am in this venue I think of how the artist must feel walking out on stage. The theater was opened in 1929 and has hosted some of the best in the music business.
Umphrey’s started the show with “A Mild Sedative” and tore through arrange of musical genres. The musicianship was spot on and came with an amazing light show that complemented the theater’s incredible acoustics. Listening and watching I could tell Umphrey’s has been at it for some time now. Touring relentlessly, these guys can let the music speak for itself. They closed the night with The Clash’s “Rock The Casbah” and proceeded to go into a three-man drum circle. I found myself very amazed by their performance.
