If sheer enthusiasm counts for anything at all, then Nine Times Blue could be destined for the top of the charts. And given their radio-ready approach, there certainly is that possibility. Now, with a new EP, aptly entitled Matter of Time (a follow-up to their well-received debut, Falling Slowly), the Atlanta-based band hits another high mark, one which reaffirms their commitment to craft.
Each of itssix songs reverberates with a giddy exuberance, manifest in their resounding refrains, fist-pumping frenzy and an insistent sound that practically leaps from the grooves. Okay, this bunch isn’t about to bend any barriers, but given the celebratory sounds that accompany “Falling After Year,” “Only Lonely (The Shovel Song)” and “This Time,” that sense of revelry is reward enough. Immodest as it may be, the title Matter of Time seems to suggest much more than wishful thinking.
