JACK WHITE 6/5/14, Charlotte NC

Dates: June 5, 2014

Location: The Fillmore, Charlotte NC

Skinny sweaty man in a blue shirt: Amidst an intense light show with spectral blues and oranges, Jack White and his band performed live at the Fillmore in Charlotte on Thursday June 5. I was fortunate enough to catch the almost two hour set. White’s soaring, searing guitars were the highlight of the evening amidst expert musicianship, as White gave his all, albeit quiet and introverted between songs, to a sold out crowd in the thousands.

The former lead of the White Stripes is out supporting his new Lazaretto (check the video below), officially released this week, although his touring live set spans his years of touring with Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, and his previous solo material. White (38) will also be appearing tonight (June 9) on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Jack White 1

The Los Angeles Times on the Lazaretto album” “A confident, brash, inventive collection featuring songs that lock into the psyche after only a few listens, the White-produced creation is lyrically and musically challenging and filled with many fresh avenues of exploration, even as it nods to key tones and ideas from throughout the history of pre-rap American music.”

The Charlotte set included: “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground”, the aforementioned title track, “Temporary Ground”, “ Hotel Yorba”, “Top Yourself”, “Just One Drink”, “Hello Operator”, the White Stripes classic, “You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told)”, “The Rose With the Broken Neck”, “Three Women”, “Hypocritical Kiss”, “Sixteen Saltines” and White encored with “Icky Thump”, “Seven Nation Army”, and the Lead Belly classic, “Goodnight, Irene”.
