Del The Funky Homosapien & Parallel Thought – Attractive Sin

January 01, 1970

(Parallel Thought)

For nearly two decades, Del
The Funky Homosapien has been one of the staunchest purveyors of West Coast
loyalty – almost to a fault. But after spending much of the last decade chasing
his creative tail in self-produced purgatory, 2009 saw the Oakland
rap icon break rank from his Golden
State roots to work with
East Coast beatsmiths Parallel Thought and Newark MC Tame One on the excellent Parallel Uni-Verses.

Three years later, Del links
back up with the underrated South Jersey-based production crew for the equally
inspiring Attractive Sin. Across
eleven cuts Parallel Thought utilize their deep knowledge of Del’s Elektra
years to weave a beautifully updated pastiche of early ‘90s throwback grooves
as the Funky One contemplates the cusp of middle age with some of his most
reflective and poignant lyrics to date. Tracks like “On Momma’s House”,
“Ownership” and “Shows Over” mark some of Del’s best work since No Need For Alarm, and fans can only hope that he doesn’t lose
Parallel Thought’s contact info any time soon.
