San Fran band is a 5-headed songwriting talent on their new album, due in January.

San Francisco-based band Hidden in the Sun has what they call their “unconventional” first single from the fivesome’s upcoming debut album Seven Seasons, which drops Jan. 20. The seven-minute epic track is all pure mood, dropping the listener into the middle of some beautiful and history-rich “other” world. And you can hear it exclusively at BLURT:
“‘Salt and the Spring’ represents our most collaborative effort,” says Sean Alexander of the band, which boasts five songwriters with a multitude of influences. Contrary to the band’s usual writing processes, he explains that “the riff was brought to rehearsal and each member came up with his or her own unique contribution.” Indeed, the deep traditions of American roots music contrast with myriad styles for this group, ranging from the Blues to Ambient Electronic. Recorded deep in the Redwood forests of Mendocino, California, Seven Seasons shows off what can come from true, egoless collaboration. Below, you can check out the album trailer video as well.
The band will be playing their hometown on December 21 at the Makeout Room. Stay tuned for a full tour itinerary.
