Song Premiere: New Barton Carroll

Barton Carroll

Track culled from upcoming October full-length release.

 By Blurt Staff

Seattle singer/songwriter/rocker Barton Carroll hops back in the saddle on Oct. 15 with his new album Avery County, I’m Bound To You (Skybucket). We’re stoked to showcase brand-new track “The Straight Mile” right here at BLURT— listen for the classic lines, “I don’t walk through the valley alone/ I always pray to Saint Joey Ramone.” Amen.

Notes Carroll, “We originally had Jim Roth scheduled to play lead guitar on this track, but Built To Spill was on tour during our recording session. So we had Steve Moore on Hammond B3 and Hans Teuber on Wurlitzer mix a little Jazz into our Folk Rock.”

Recorded at Jupiter Studios in Seattle, the production team was veteran producer Martin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Jesse Sykes, Hey Marseilles, Mudhoney, etc) and Matt Weiner who produced Carroll’s 2010 release, Together You and I. And the album title? Sure enough, Carroll grew up in Avery County, North Carolina. Homeboy!
