On October 17th, 2011, Smoke Fairies, backed by members of Blitzen Trapper, recorded Volume 6 of the “Upstairs at United” series of all analog recordings in the historic United Record Pressing plant. True to the “Upstairs at United: series, each song was recorded in a single take direct to ¼ inch tape then cut at 45 RPM for the ultimate listening experience.

And the EP is released April 20 as a Record Store Day exclusive for indie-retailers only. It’s a super-limited edition, so queue up and grab it while you can on Saturday! Meanwhile, previously released in England, the Smoke Fairies’ second proper album Blood Speaks finally being issued domestically in the United States. Head, the venerated producer, returns for the new album, and their live band was also drafted in, adding their intuitive version of the duo’s evolving sound. Blood Speaks comes out April 23 on Year Seven Records in this country with on red vinyl and as a 2CD set with 5 bonus tracks.
