Not just the loose jam “Poke Me In the Cage,” either…

Whoah – the ‘mats are dominating the pre-weekend music news, which suggests pop nirvana is at hand. Not only are two vinyl boxes en route (Twin\Tone albums (Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash, Stink, Hootenanny, Let it Be; and Sire era LPs Tim, Pleased To Meet Me, Don’t Tell A Soul, All Shook Down), Billboard reports that the group has been in the studio recently in Waltham, Mass., and Minneapolis cutting “actual songs,” as manager Darren Hill told the magazine.

Some tentative confirmation has already surfaced online via a video from Los Angeles on April 16. It’s a new song called “Whole Foods Blues” and although it might just be a jokey throwaway, the bluesy (duh) number ain’t half bad!

Meanwhile, read our review of the band’s show in Denver on April 19 – the band also played “WFB.” The group’s tour continues apace with two shows next week in Chicago followed by a string of additional Midwest and east coast dates, as outlined on the poster, above.
