MP3: Listen to New Chills Single

Chills

Following the announcement that Fire Records have signed a deal with The Chills and their label Far South, the cult New Zealand indie band unleash ‘Molten Gold’ – one of their first new songs in nearly a decade – and raise a toast to frontman Martin Phillipps on his 50th birthday, 2nd July 2013.

Ladling Phillipps’s stirring vocal over chiming guitars and spring-breeze-fresh-sounding strings, this is quintessential Chills and a reinvigorated return to form for the indie luminaries who first began their charm offensive back in 1980 and propelled the much celebrated ‘Dunedin Sound’.

Martin Phillipps commented:

“Molten Gold” is the culmination of a lot of work by many people who have helped digitize and sort many of the hundreds of song ideas I have started over the last decade or two so that I can finally begin moving forward and completing songs.
