MP3: Download a Tony Allen Concert from Paris 2015

A funky good time indeed…

By Blurt Staff

Afrobeat time, BLURT punters: just a couple of weeks ago Nigeria-born, Paris-based drummer and bandleader Tony Allen – you may have heard of him? maybe in conjunction with Fela Kuti? or more recently, as a pal and collaborator with Damon Albarn? – popped into Studio 105 at Paris’ Maison de la Radio with his band to tape a session for broadcast. Earlier, in 2014, he’d released a critically-acclaimed solo album, Film Of Life, while in 2013 he published his autobiography, Tony Allen: Master Drummer of Afrobeat, co-written with author/musician Michael E. Veal. So the timing was apt.

The good folks over at Big O ‘Zine have now posted the broadcast for free download in MP3 form, along with artwork suitable for printing out. As Big O advises, “have a funky good time”…
