With the news of soul legend Bobby Womack’s unexpected and tragic death still fresh – go here to read our interview with him from earlier this year – perhaps it’s appropriate at this juncture to celebrate his life in music via the material at hand, courtesy the archivists at Big O zine. A pair of superb sounding FM broadcasts from late 2012 (France Inter Radio FM, November 21, 2012 and BBC Session for Dermot O’Leary show, with Steve Lamacq), they found Womack focusing on his album The Bravest man in the Universe while also essaying some vintage Womack material, notably “Across 110th Street.” And he was in fine form, to say the least.
