One of the timeliest bootlegs in recent memory. Take the power back indeed.

Talk about a fast turnaround – Prophets of Rage, which as we noted a couple of weeks ago is a new supergroup featuring Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine along with Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real, performed a blistering show Friday night (June 3) at the Palladium in Hollywood, and it’s already up on the web in high quality audio. You can grab it as a free download over at the Big O zine, along with downloadable artwork.
Blistering indeed. Billboard called the show “the public rally they’ve been preparing for. Looking down from the balcony, the entire floor is a physical collision course, as the crowd charge at each other like newly liberated cattle, inspired by Morello’s solos, which he performs while doing the splits, setting fire to his own loins before scorching everyone else’s.”
As you might expect, key tracks from Rage, PE and Cypress Hill turned up in the setlist (view it below), and Chuck D. also offered a tribute to the just-passed Muhammad Ali as the group finished their titular song at the start of the concert, saying, “We raise a fist and pray for Muhammad Ali.”
Everybody got all that? Get ready for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July ‘cos the band has already announced it intends to be their to perform in protest. Shades of the 1968 DNC….
