McCready, Martin, McKagan & Arm: No, Not a CSNY Tribute, but Stooges!

Mark Iggy

Down on the street…no, wait, up ABOVE the street…

It will be a rooftop concert, it will be a free concert to boot, and the one-off event will feature the four above-listed icons: Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Barrentt Martin (Screaming Trees), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) and Mark Arm (Mudhoney), rocking out not on their respective combo’s music but instead an all-Stooges set. As Rolling Stone reports, the Aug. 23 concert at Seattle’s Pike Place Market is to be to help raise funds for local non-profit radio station KEXP-FM’s new operations center.

Needless to say all four musicians were massively influenced by the Stooges, and over the years they’ve played their share of Stooges covers in their own bands’ set. It’s pretty obvious that Arm will be the Iggy of the quartet and Martin the Scott Asheton; most likely McCready will play Ron Asheton, and McKagan James Williamson.

Given that the show will be a jammed, must-attend event, it’s not surprising to learn that there will be a VIP element to it: fans who make a donation will be entered into a drawing for a winner to be able to go to dinner with the band and attend the after-party.
