“Two Weeks” drops as digital single early next month.

Erstwhile Azure Ray member Orenda Fink—a longtime fave around the BLURT penthouse—has started a new project with her sister Christine called High Up. They’ve been moving forward with it pretty swiftly, in fact, and are releasing a digital single on October 9. It’s called “Two Weeks” and in fact you can listen to the delightful tune online already:
Orenda began brainstorming High Up after Christine relocated to Omaha from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Orenda has released her third solo album, Blue Dream, on Saddle Creek in 2013 but was ready for a change. Indeed, as the saying goes, “after many whiskey soaked nights” they decided they wanted to do an indie “soul” band, essentially an amalgam of classic soul and their indie rock roots, that showcased Christine’s powerful vocals and Orenda’s songwriting. It wasn’t long before they were joined by Greg Elsasser (Capgun Coup) on keys and guitar, Eric Ohlsson (Capgun Coup) on drums, and Josh Soto (The Seen) on bass. Orenda and Muscle Shoals transplant Jason Biggers (Religious Husband) round out the band as the horn section, playing trombone and trumpet respectively.
