Listen to New Single: NC’s Band & the Beat

Dreampop par excellence from the AZ-to-NC-duo. Femme vocals and sensuous synths never sounded quite so 4AD delightful as now….

Out Tuesday, March 29, is Raleigh, North Carolina, based Band & the Beat’s new digital single “Straight and Narrow” b/w “Jimmy’s Jam” (Fort Lowell Records). Sharp-eyed BLURT readers will recall that the duo, aka Tracy and James Tritten, formerly called Tucson, AZ, their home, and that James also operates the Fort Lowell Records, which we profiled not long ago. Check out the tingly, luminous, and altogether haunting “Straight and Narrow” for a sense of why we are absolute fans of the femme-voiced, dream-pop, synth/drum machine/vocals duo:

You can snag the single at the band’s Bandcamp page. References? How about:

“[“Straight and Narrow” and “Jimmy’s Jam”] are strong examples of the sort of veteran, polished, easily-lovable work that the members of Band & The Beat are putting out early in their career.“ ~ Stephen Carradini, Independent Clauses

“super catchy synth pop” ~ Impose Magazine
“intimate, dreamy, mesmerizing synths” ~ Turntable Kitchen
“no samples, no laptops, just genuine songwriting” ~ Yab Yum Music & Arts

‘Nuf sed! The band is touring, including a show this week, on April 1, at MACROCK Music Festival at the Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg VA, so check out current + previous dates here.
