April 3-5 is the date, so set your GPS for Kansas City!

It is that time of year again, a time when we think of spring and for Kansas City to roll out its annual get together of the talented masses known as Ink’s Middle of the Map Festival. For the 4th year in a row, The Record Machine (a Kansas City based record label) and The Kansas City Star’s Ink Magazine have worked to bring together some of the best local, national and regional acts into the ever beating heart of the country.
The festival, featuring 120+ acts and several venues in Kansas City, first brought to life by The Record Machine’s founder Nathan Reusch and Ink Magazine’s Chris Haghirian as a way to highlight the area’s vast pool of musical talent. Couple that with some of the finest touring national acts (this year’s lineup includes: Of Montreal, Wayne “The Train” Hancock, The Get Up Kids, William Elliott Whitmore, Reggie & the Full Effect, J. Roddy & the Business, Kate Nash and more) and you’ve got three solid days of quality music.
But that’s not the end, toss in great local and regional acts (Scruffy and the Janitors, Sleepy Kitty, The Electric Lungs, The Phillistines, Me Like Bees, The Sluts, Cowboy Indian Bear, more) than there will be plenty of joy for your earholes and soul.
With Middle of the Map Fest, you will hopefully see that the great Midwest is more than barbecue, corn, the plains and a slower way of life; it proves that we are a community of creative people in touch with the arts and the rhythms of the world. Middle of the Map is simply the physical manifestation of that fact.
