One of the finest and most eclectic combos to emerge from the Asheville, NC, music scene in recent years is the Jon Stickley Trio, which amplifies, diversifies, and otherwise fuses acoustic guitar, violin, and drums into a sonic smorgasbord of trippy grooves, high-energy bluegrass (the Blurt editor calls it “punkgrass”) and jammy Americana. Their most recent album, Lost at Last, garnered critical kudos across the board while landing on radio here, there, and yonder. They now have a new 5-song EP, Triangular, and a Kickstarter campaign has also commenced to help fund the recording of their next longplayer (to be produced, once again, by Dave King of the Bad Plus at the venerable Echo Mountain Recording facility in Asheville.

The Trio is looking to raise $28,000 and launched the Kickstarter campaign on 10/10;fFolks can get involved until it ends on 11/11. They say, “We’ve set our goal at $28,000 which is substantially less than what the realistic costs add up to, because we understand that this is a group effort, and we are a part of that group!”

Go HERE to check out the Kickstarter page and learn more details. Even the most modest pledge will net you a quick free download of EP track “Blackburn Brothers.” Meanwhile, you can hear the song at the Live for Live Music site’s official premiere of the tune.
