In reponse to the Typhoon Haiyan tragedy that swept much of the Phillippines a week ago, David Byrne has announced he will do a benefit concert Nov. 25 at NYC’s Terminal 5, with proceeds being directed to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières who are currently active in relief efforts taking place in the Phillippines. The show will feature the cast of his Here Lies Love theatrical production, about the Phillippines’ notorious First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Noted Byrne, “The show is about the resiliency of the Philippine people—it couldn’t be more timely. Upon hearing about this tragedy the cast contacted me about doing a show to raise money for relief efforts. Most of our cast is Filipino, and all of us feel the same way. It’s personal for all of us.” (via Pitchfork)
