Catch The Orb On Its 25th Anniversary Tour, Like, Now

And it’s de Scratch, mon, on de mic… spliff up. Then listen to “Little Fluffy Clouds” and more, below.

The Orb is embarking upon an extensive North American Tour starting TONIGHT in San Diego and running through early November, including a stop not far from the BLURT ark, in Asheville at the Mountain Oasis Festival on October 27.  The tour is to celebrate the UK band’s 25th Anniversary. Known as the “English electronic group who spawned the genre ambient house,” their most recent collaboration with dub reggae godfather Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry (not a “dub step master” as some p.r. hype would have him labeled, of course) is More Tales From The Orbservatory, the followup to The Orbserver In The Star House.

We are advised that Dr. Alex Paterson and longtime Orb member Thomas Fehlmann “construct a panorama of perfect, stripped down backdrops for Perry’s inimitable pronouncements, righteous declarations and sweet vocals.” Well, that’s exactly what the album sounds like, and it rocks.
