Yeah Yeah Yeah: The Story Of Modern Pop is the title of Saint Etienne co-founder Bob Stanley’s recently published book, and it’s now seeing publication in the U.S. by WW Norton. To mark the occasion, Saint Etienne has a “very limited number” of the book’s deluxe edition, which basically sold out in a heartbeat when it appeared last October in Britain. Take a look at the full package here.
The deluxe edition comes in a special box and includes a first edition copy of Yeah Yeah Yeah, one of just 120 copies that have been cloth and foil bound with unique artwork. Each copy is signed. The package also includes a set of four badges, a set of four postcards, and a Yeah Yeah Yeah tote bag. Best of all, a 7″ single specially chosen by Bob. He has written an individual postcard explaining why he’s chosen each record and why it’s of importance to him. Each single will be a key moment from the story of pop, hand-picked from his favourite stores (no charity shop junk!) and each single will be unique. As an added bonus, Bob has made a compilation CD of his favorite California sounds, one of which will be included in each of these deluxe sets, and not released anywhere else.
Incidentally, the LA Times have just given it a glowing review which you can read here . Yeah Yeah Yeah has been described as an “instant classic”, and “as much a trusted reference point as it is a wildly entertaining read” by Record Collector. It is already a set text at several universities in Britain. The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt has said Yeah Yeah Yeah “makes me want to run to the nearest record store – and move in.”
