Drink up, punters.
By Uncle Blurt
Since I’m not much of a Facebook kinda uncle, I usually have to be force-fed content by the Editor or Assistant Editor from the social media megasite. This time around, though, it went down smoothly.
As the Official Motorhead Facebook page just announced, a Jack Daniels with Coke is now to be known as “The Lemmy” in honor of the dear departed Mr. Kilmister. They posted the cover of the latest Food and Beverage magazine – or, technically, an honorary mock-up of the cover – that officially rechristens the Jack & Coke in Lemmy’s name. Anyone with even just a passing knowledge of the band and its founder knows that Jack & Coke was literally the only thing Lemmy would drink, and if you saw him anyplace other than holding his guitar in front of a mic, if there was not that drink at his side, something was definitely wrong.
“Rock legend Lemmy Kilmister has joined the ranks Arnold Palmer, Bellini, Shirley Temple and Tom Collins. Food & Beverage Magazine has officially named the industry standard call-out drink of Jack & Coke to “The Lemmy” in honor of Official Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister’s favorite drink which he made famous on the Sunset Strip at The Rainbow Bar and Grill.
“‘We are honored to represent the industry and bring the moniker, “The Lemmy” to every bar in the world!” exclaims Food and Beverage Magazine Publisher, Michael Politz. “Owning a Rock club with Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell gave me the chance to meet Lemmy and experience his legend myself.'”
I’ll drink to that. [Side note: here at the BLURT bistro there is indeed a drink concoction known as “The Uncle B” so thanks for asking!]
