Ain’t we ain’t kiddin’ with that title declaration, kids.

It’s titled “FOH” and you can translate that as “Front Of the House” – it’s also the first single from the upcoming Superchunk album, as anthemic and shouty-singy as one might hope from the ‘chunk but also slotting into a grand powerpop tradition extending wayyyy way back, through Cheap Trick and Buzzcocks and Big Star and beyond.
Tune in August 20 for the NC band’s new album, I Hate Music, via Merge of course. As regional blog Triangle Music reports, Superchunk will host an album release party August 24 at Cat’s Cradle with the Reigning Sound-Ettes supergroup Parting Gifts opening. We’ll be there fo’ sure! Sadly, bassist Laura Ballance will only appear on the album; she’s bowed out of live performances due to an ongoing battle with hearing-loss syndrome hyperacusis, so Jason Narducy will be filling in for her onstage.
