Today the Hopscotch Music Festival announced the lineup for its fourth-annual party in downtown Raleigh, N.C., scheduled for Sept. 5–7, 2013. “Hopscotch is perfectly aligned to expand along with Raleigh, as the city continues to be one of the fastest growing places in America. We think we’ve established the festival as one of the city’s signature weekends,” said Hopscotch’s founding director, Greg Lowenhagen, in the official announcement statement. “We’re really happy to be part of the downtown community and hope to be viewed as a key part of the city’s ever evolving identity.”

Check the full lineup, below. The festival will be highlighted by two nights in Raleigh City Plaza: on Friday, Sept. 6, Big Boi will headline Hopscotch’s biggest stage. Future Islands and Gross Ghost will open. And on Saturday, Sept. 8, Spiritualized will end the night with their shrieking psychedelic gospel, while the Breeders will commemorate the 20th anniversary of their 1993 best-seller, Last Splash, by playing it in its entirety. The Lollipops open. Some 165 other bands perform in 14 clubs during Hopscotch’s three days.

Also, this year, locals include established acts Mount Moriah, The Rosebuds, Chatham County Line and Ashrae Fax, plus Double Negative, Ryan Gustafson’s The Dead Tongues, American Aquarium, Shirlette Ammons T4GB, Ironing Board Sam, Shannon Whitworth, Schooner, Loincloth, The Backsliders and many more. Among the new bands: the shambling country of Old Quarter, the electro thump of Body Games and the narcotic, futuristic folk of Sylvan Esso.

“This is the fourth Hopscotch, and I’m confident it’s the best lineup we’ve ever assembled,” says Grayson Currin, the festival’s co-director. “I believe we push some boundaries harder than we have before, with several experimental artists making some of today’s most bleeding-edge music on the slate. But that’s balanced with incredible pop and dance music, great old-time and country offerings, garage rock and our best docket of heavy metal to date. And this year, more than ever, we present a strong set of legends, coupled with musicians who could become exactly that.”
