Veteran rock band Umphrey’s McGee recently released their latest studio album The London Session (April 7, Nothing Too Fancy Music) and we are pretty jazzed to be able to offer a signed copy of the vinyl LP to a lucky BLURT reader. How ya gonna score it? Just two E-Z steps:
-email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
-tell us your best Umphrey’s story or experience. For example the Blurt editor might outline the evening he found himself backstage at an Umphrey’s show, standing at the john in a men’s room beside two members of the band who were also seeking relief from the many beers we had been consuming a short time before. The woozy conversations that ensued were, uh, pretty woozy….
Deadline is May 2. One lucky fan whose tale captures the collective imagination of our editorial committee will receive the autographed album in the mail not long after.
Important: Make sure you include in the body of your message your email address AND your snail mail address.
About the band and the album: In June 2014, just following the release of their acclaimed eighth studio album Similar Skin and a triumphant set on the main stage at Bonnaroo, Umphrey’s McGee was headed to London for a three night stand at the city’s new Brooklyn Bowl. On a whim prior to the trip, they decided to just see if the legendary studio might be free. With a single 12 hour window available, it seemed the ideal opportunity to try something long discussed–to take some live songs into the studio for the first time and try out some new arrangements with fan favorites. With one brand new song and an appropriate cover to bookend the proceedings, the band entered the famed Abbey Road studios on the morning of June 18th to record their ninth studio album The London Session, the second full length release on their own label Nothing Too Fancy Music.
