Musician/painter Joseph Arthur will publish his first
children’s book, “Yer Only Job”, a
story-poem inspired by Dr. Seuss and written for his nephews.  The book
will be available for pre-order on JosephArthur.com starting today and
available October 24th

Illustrated by Austin artist Gabrielle Tuschak, “Yer Only Job” shares the message of
“Your only job is to be free / free to live inside a tree / free to see the way
you see / if it’s strange then let it be.”  Meanwhile, the song “Yer Only
Job” was turned into a song featured on Arthur’s Redemption City.  The album is now available in
expanded form with two additional songs and a booklet via iTunes.

“When I saw Gabrielle’s drawings I knew I found a perfect
match for this kids’ story I had in my pocket,” said Arthur, in a statement. “I
draw as well but my characters are a bit scarier than Gabi’s, and my goal
wasn’t to give kids nightmares – I save those for adults.”

On Sunday, October 21st at City Winery, Joseph
Arthur and special guests will hold a fundraiser to help the musician and
painter recoup the costs of buying back his own van.  Over $10,000 was
spent on Private Investigator fees and a classic shakedown in the Bronx – go
here to read the account
of the tangled series of events that lead to Arthur
losing possession of the van. At the show REM guitarist Peter Buck will be performing his first solo set in New York, backed by
Lenny Kaye, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin.
