Sweden-born, New Orleans-formed singer/songwriter – and
frequently, one-woman band – Theresa Andersson announced a fresh string of U.S.
tour dates the other day, all of them in the South. They are in support of her
latest album Street Parade; check the
itinerary below, as well as a track from the album:

MP3: “Fiya’s Gone”

9/12: Jackson, MI @ Hal & Mals
9/13: Memphis, TN @ Hi-Tone Café
9/14: Huntsville, AL @ Flying Monkey Arts Center
9/15: Fort Payne, AL @ DeKalb Theatre
9/16: Chatanooga, TN @ Barking Legs Theatre
9/17: Athens, GA @ Caledonia Lounge
9/18: Mobile, AL @ Alabama Music Box

Andersson was the subject of a recent profile by BLURT
contributing editor Lee Zimmerman, who wrote, “As anyone who’s seen her live
can attest, Andersson’s instrumental arsenal consists not only of those
traditional tools, but rather a complex system of loops, pedals, mixers and
sequencers that turn her winsome songs into sounds that are atmospheric
intensive – an approach that’s essentially austere, precious and homegrown, and
yet also unerringly intriguing and inventive. Like Kate Bush, Tori Amos and
Laurie Anderson, her music originates with melody, but quickly evolves with an
unlikely exuberance both quirky and compelling.”
