In the indie/punk news this morning: word of the newly-established Bikini Kill Records, which has been launched by the erstwhile Kathleen Hanna-led crew in order to reissue the riot grrrl icons’ classic back catalog. According to Pitchfork, the initial release will be “the band’s 1992 self-titled EP. The label also plans to release Bikini
Kill’s original demo tape, which includes previously unreleased
material. The band is sifting through their archives to find other
rare/unreleased tracks, zines, live takes, photographs, practice tapes,
films, videos, flyers, and more, which they plans to share and release
via Bikini Kill Records…. the discography is streaming and downloadable on Bandcamp, with physical releases to come.”
Sounds good. Let’s rock, ladies.
