Video: Neneh Cherry/Four Tet Do Suicide

That ain’t all… how
about Ornette, Stooges, papa Don, and more?

Neneh Cherry & The Thing’s debut collaborative album, The Cherry Thing, on Smalltown Supersound,
is out this week. In the (9-star) BLURT review, writer Jason
Ferguson enthused, of “Neneh Cherry’s jazz album” that
includes wild-ass covers of Ornette Coleman and pops Don Cherry alongside the
likes of Suicide, Stooges and MF Doom, the songs serve “as a stark reminder to
casual and lapsed jazz fans that it’s possible to make adventurous and
accessible improvisational music in 2012 without conforming to the restrictive
standards of capital-J Jazz. They also serve as a reminder that Neneh Cherry is
a certifiable musical treasure.”

To that end, check the video above for the collective’s
take on Suicide’s epochal noir classic “Dream Baby Dream” – Four Tet remix
version – as directed by Ted Said. Meanwhile, check your local newsstand for
the new print issue of BLURT – we have a special Neneh C feature that we are
still loving and we want you to read.
