“I think you walk
through the world with your eyes closed and your ears covered.” – Will Oldham.

NPR weekend staple Wait
Wait… Don’t Tell Me! has long been among the brainiest – and funniest –
shows on radio, with host Peter Sagal, trusty sidekick Carl Kasell and their
rotating panel of news and humor experts consistently delivering the topical
goods (frequently impaled on a shish kabob skewer). Lately, they’ve been upping
their pop culture hipster quotient as well via the celebrity call-in segment
known as “Not My Job.”
Just a few months ago they hosted Joey Burns of Calexico (go
here), and then this weekend it was Will Oldham, aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy,
offering a combination of bon mots and deadpan deliveries on everything from being typecast as a “sad” songwriter
and the finer nuances of actress/singer Doris Day to filming that video on Zach
Galifianakas’ tractor and appearing in the Jackass movie as a gorilla trainer.
Go here on the NPR site to listen to a podcast or read a
transcript of the Oldham
segment. Meanwhile, the rest of us at BLURT are hoping and praying for a future
appearance of Anton Newcombe….
