Friends: New MP3; LP Due for June

Set to build upon the
momentum put in motion by the “Friend Crush” single.

Brooklyn quintet Friends
have finally readied their debut album Manifest! for a June 5th release on Fat Possum
Records. Recall that last year’s “Friend Crush” single generated a huge
internet and college radio buzz, partly on the strength of the scintillating
sultriness of lead singer Samanta Urbani but also the spooky, danceable
instrumental magic woven by the other band members, Lesley Hann, Matthew Molnar,
and Nikki Shapiro, and drummer Oliver Duncan.  (See the video, below,
following the text.

For the new album they recorded twelve tracks between last
summer and this spring with engineer Daniel Schlett at Strange Weather studios
in Brooklyn, and according to the band it “aims
both to live up to and to defy the promise of singles “Friend Crush” and “I’m
His Girl”.” Full tracklisting tba; above is the sleeve artwork.

A new track, “Mind Control,” mixed by Grammy winner Paul
Epworth, made its worldwide debut as the “Hottest Record in the World” on the UK’s premiere
primetime radio show, BBC Radio One’s Zane Lowe. Check it out:
