Vid/MP3: Trailer Trash Tracys/Black Dice

“Candy Girl” serves up
a sweet taste-fest…

By Blurt Staff

Trailer Trash Tracys recently released their debut LP Ester on Double Six/Domino, which saw them collecting raves from
the likes of the Guardian, Dazed and Confused, Uncut and many more. Including

There’s nothing remotely
“alt” or “country” or “twangy” here, but instead
a deliciously disorienting thicket of experimental synths and distorted beats
with familiar classic pop melodies serving like breadcrumb-trails through the
fantastical processed forest. Led by the sensuous late-night vocals of Suzanne
Aztoria, a host of contemporaries come to mind with the TTTs, from Blonde
Redhead and Warpaint to School
of Seven Bells and Holly
Miranda. But the band’s real progenitors span eras, from the Jesus & Mary
Chain’s bubble gum-and-heroin noir and Cocteau Twins’ hazy textures to Kiernan
Hebden’s chop shop and the Dum Dum Girls’ girl group-meets-the-Ramones’ echoes.

In addition, they cast their eerily gorgeous spell over London audiences when they played their sold-out headline
show at the Lexington in January, and also
headed out on high profile support slots with the likes of The Vaccines and the
Maccabees, playing to maximum capacity crowds at venues such as Brixton Academy.

The band has gone ahead and recorded a very special live
session, with album highlights such as “Candy Girl” and “Strangling
Good Guys” aired in a very intimate yet oddly fitting environment for the
band. Watch the videos below, and also check out an MP3 of the Black Dice remix
for “Candy Girl.”
