Coen Brothers Doing Van Ronk/Folk Film

“Heavy fictionalized”
version of the legendary folkie’s life.

Rolling Stone reports that filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen – that would be the Coen brothers –
are making a movie “loosely based on the story of Dave Van Ronk” titled Inside Llewyn Davis, it’s said that the
Coens’ screenplay “will be heavy fictionalized,” depicting the titular
character “struggling as a folk musician during the peak of [the Greenwich
Village folk scene in the ‘60s].”


No date has been announced, nor have any of the actors,
although it wouldn’t be a total stretch to have Steve Earle portray the late
Van Ronk, pictured below. The Coens will direct and produce, per usual, and
this will be the followup to True Grit.
