Lemonheads to Tour “Ray”

Beloved alt-nineties classic album sure to bring out
the nostalgia vote.

Lemonheads announce an
extensive U.S.
tour for later this fall where the Evan
Dando-led three piece will be performing their classic 1992 album, It’s A Shame About Ray, from
beginning to end.  It won’t be the classic ’92 lineup of Dando, Juliana
Hatfield and David Ryan on tour, however: joining Dando will be guitarist Josh Lattanzi  (The Candles) and
drummer Brian Nolan (American
Hi-Fi).

Rhino Records re-released a
collector’s version of the album with bonus tracks and a DVD in 2007 for the US and now the UK will get their chance thanks to
the Edsel imprint of the UK-based Demon Music Group later this fall. The
Lemonheads’ most recent release is Varshons – a collection of covers including tracks by GG Allin, Wire, Gram Parsons,
Leonard Cohen and more – in 2009. The album only received so-so reviews from
the critics (read the BLURT review here), and since then Dando has busied
himself primarily doing solo acoustic gigs, so the Ray tour may help give the band a much-needed positive boost in the
minds of the public.
