Hold Steady will start
work on new album in September too.

While the Hold Steady take a short break this summer,
frontman Craig Finn is hanging out in Austin
working on a solo record with Mike McCarthy producing. Finn posted a note this
week to that effect at his Tumblr account that includes some semi-random (but fun)
photos as well.
Meanwhile, the Hold Steady will begin work on a new album
this fall.
According to Finn’s posts:
July
6: “I’m in Austin
TX for a few weeks. Making a record. Staying in a friend’s guest house. Got
here yesterday. So far so good. I’ll be tracking the progress here.”
July
11: “The Hold Steady start writing for record #6 in September.
Meanwhile, I’m down in Austin
making a record with Mike McCarthy. This one is a solo project. Sunday was
another great day in Austin: making music, hanging with friends, and swimming.
Also, saw an amazing show by Centro-matic and Sarah Jaffe.”
