As 2009 came to a close we had selected Beirut (aka Zach
Condon) as our Artist Of The Year – he’d previously been on the cover of our
second issue, in fact – thanks to the unqualified beauty of the Beirut record March of the Zapotec. Now comes word
that the long-overdue followup is incoming: August 30 will see the arrival of The Rip Tide on the Pompeii label.

 

It’s billed as a “dramatic and intimate shift” for Condon
& Co., and you can listen to the album track “East
Harlem” (currently out as a limited edition single) right here:
