Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot
Music & Arts Festival will be at the Seattle Center
this year on Sept. 3, 4 and 5.  The
event, incidentally, will be celebrating its 41st anniversary. Full
details on ticketing and more can be found at the Bumbershoot website at bumbershoot.org.

The Mainstage – relocated to KeyArena from Memorial Stadium
– will once again feature two multi-act performances each day, with artists
including blue-eyed soul legends Daryl Hall & John Oates, rising hip-hop
star Wiz Khalifa and popular singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne & the Pariah
Dogs, as well as indie rock sensations Broken Social Scene, Fitz and The
Tantrums and hometown heroes The Presidents of the United States of America,
The Lonely Forest, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. See the full lineup, below.

“While there are plenty of changes this year, what hasn’t
changed is our commitment to offering the most diverse festival lineup around,”
says Chris Porter, Programming Director for One Reel. “Regardless of your age
or tastes, there’s an artist appearing at Bumbershoot that will appeal to you.”

The electronic music world will be more fully represented
this year through a partnership with the Decibel Festival. Curated by Decibel
founder and organizer Sean Horton, the EMP Sky Church stage will feature some of the
genre’s most exciting regional and national talent throughout the weekend,
including Nice Nice, School of Seven Bells and Tycho. With a focus on live
electronic music performance and video accompaniment (featuring VJs Momo the
Monster, Brandy Gray, Epileptic and T.J. Davis), the Decibel Stage will offer
interactive multi-media explorations using the venue’s state-of-the-art screen.
As part of the partnership, the festival will offer additional late-night programming
when Bumbershoot After Dark – featuring more established electronic artists –
takes over the Exhibition Hall from 10 pm through 5 am.  Lineup and ticket information will be
announced June 15.

Additional specialty programming Includes a metal show,
featuring Eyehategod, Valient Thorr, Red Fang and Witchburn, curated by El
Corazon owner and talent buyer Dana Sims, as well as a jazz showcase on EMP
Level 3 (a brand new Bumbershoot venue), highlighting local standouts Wayne
Horvitz Café Paloma Band, Thomas Marriott’s Human Spirit and the Gail Pettis
Quartet. Jazz musician Matt Jorgensen, who is also co-Artistic Director of the
Ballard Jazz Festival, brought his expertise to the jazz programming.
