With his new album Tha Funk Capital
of the World
already out and a U.S. tour set to launch tomorrow
(it includes a stop at Bonnaroo), Bootsy Collins has announced the
players for his “phenomenally funky 13-piece”. The band includes members of
P-Funk, Public Enemy and legendary session players, and promises to deliver the
earth-shaking groove Bootsy’s live shows are known for. Bootsy and Funk
U-Nity’s set will mix songs from the album with classic jams and tributes to
Bootsy’s musical idols.

The album, in fact, features contributions from George Clinton, Snoop Dogg,
Chuck D, Ice Cube, Samuel L. Jackson, Bela Fleck, Rev. Al Sharpton, Dr. Cornel
West, Buckethead and others – and word has it that some will pop up as surprise
guests at various stops on the tour.
