Domino Records Launches Radio Station

Sure, it’s kind of a
gimmick, and a temporary one… but still, a fun enterprise.

British ace indie label Domino Records is unveiling a new
radio station next month, drawing on the spirit of the John Peel Show and Radio
Caroline. They’ll be broadcasting from June 6 for a week, 24 hours a day and
will feature unique contributions from many of their artists including Animal
Collective, The Kills, Robert Wyatt, and Anna Calvi.  They’ll also be
broadcasting contributions, in their words, “from various tastemakers,
instigators, thinkers and activists” such as Bobby Gillespie, Faris Badwan, and
Dennis Bovell.

Folks in London
can tune in to 87.7FM, while listeners around the world can log onto

In an interview with the Guardian UK, Laurence Bell who
co-founded the label in 1993 said “It is important for us to keep pushing
ourselves.  We don’t do these things to make money obviously.  We do
them because we want to contribute and because we enjoy representing creativity
on different levels.”

The label will be using Twitter to get the word out on the
