Say it! AAAAHHHHHH….. sultry. Ask us sometime about
that special “bootleg” we helped out on. Meanwhile, tour starts next week, foo.

The Jon Spencer Blues
Explosion, the venerable, fiery New York-based punk-blues pioneers are
launching their first string of American tour dates beginning April 27th with
several shows throughout the Southeast after a seven-year absence from the
region.

The band recently wrapped
up a tour of Australia in support of the band’s massive reissue campaign in
2010 where the seminal, long-out-of-print albums; Controversial Negro, Now I
Got Worry, Acme
and Orange, were remastered and
released by Majordomo Records/Shout! Factory as a physical package, as well as
making them available digitally for the first time. Each reissue includes a
plethora of unreleased tracks handpicked by Jon Spencer, including new photos
and essays. (Check out what BLURT had to say about some of the reissues. Or go here for some primo Spencer bonus beats, courtesy our buddy Mike Edison.)

In addition, the band
spent last year performing at various music festivals, including the 5th Annual Pitchfork Music Festival and the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival, as
well as touring extensively throughout the United
States and Canada. This year kicked off with
the band making a big splash with their raucous cover of Ram Jam’s ‘Black
Betty’ in Volkswagen’s
Super Bowl XLV ad
