Yo La Tengo Live on WFMU Tonight!

Pledge away, punters!

Coming on the heels of their recent west coast
spin-the-wheel tour (which BLURT caught both in Portland and in Oakland last month), Yo La Tengo now
settles in tonight
, March 4, for the annual WFMU-FM fundraising Marathon.

The venerable free-form radio station, originally located at
Upsala College and currently to be found in Jersey City, is one of the great
ones in America, and each year Yo La Tengo pitches in to raise money by
performing a set of more or less improvised cover tunes: you call in with a
pledge while they’re on the air, and they’ll do a song of your selection. (A
few years ago the band even released a great CD called Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics which compiled choice WFMU
Marathon performances from 1996-2003.)

You can tune in from 9 pm to midnight EST tonight at www.wfmu.org  to hear the band play and, as the saying goes,
operators will be standing by to take your pledge calls.
