Who’s Touring?

2011 tour might
involve playing full-album shows on selected nights.

News that the mighty Who is planning an extensive 2011 road
trek might be cause for some of you punk purists out there to mutter, “Who?”
But let’s not forget that these guys were the original punks, and you can stuff that in your boots ‘n’ braces.

In an audio interview posted the other day at the band’s
official website, vocalist Roger Daltrey outlined some of the possibilities he
and guitarist Pete Townshend are mulling over:

“We’re in the planning
stages for next year…we are planning on doing something. I can’t really talk
about specifics yet, but it will be based around a past work. I would like to
be on the road playing as many different kind of shows as we could: maybe doing
Quadrophenia one night, do greatest
hits the next night. And
Tommy – if I
could still sing Tommy. That, to me, would be really good fun. And don’t keep
going out with the same show every night – the audience would have to take a
chance on what show they actually got.”

Daltrey also added some tidbits about Townshend currently
working on new material for a rock opera he’s calling Floss and his own solo album Blues,
which Daltrey suggested might involve another high-profile guitarist (such as
Jimmy Page, Keith Richards or Eric Clapton – but he stopped short of revealing
who he’s been talking to). Listen to the interview here.
