Refuses to let the TV
show show use his songs – before even being asked!

In a sign that there is still some sanity left in the
mainstream music industry, Gorillaz’ lead singer Damon Albarn has indicated
that his band will not grant hit TV show Glee permission to cover any Gorillaz songs. According to Billboard.com, Albarn
said, “We wouldn’t let that happen. And not that they’ve asked us because they
haven’t, and now they definitely won’t.”
Despite the somewhat out of context nature of all this – I
mean, I have no intentions of letting Glee cover ME, either, and as with Albarn, they haven’t asked ME – it’s
still a reassuring notion, particularly given how many artists have taken to
licking the collective toxic Glee arse of late. Some of them have even refused initially then, upon seeing how
much exposure some of their moldy old tunes are suddenly getting (translation:
mega-sales at iTunes and looming royalties when the next Glee soundtrack CD is issued), have a sudden change of heart. It
will be interesting to see if Albarn can remain true to his word if the call
does come eventually….
