You, too, can be a
star at Grant Park – just like Obama, hey!

Well, it’s not American
Idol or So You Think You Can Dance,
so that’s a good start! Last
Band Standing, Lollapalooza’s online Battle
of the Bands, is back for its fourth year, with a new twist and partnership
with Dell. The best DJ’s from the Windy
City and across the globe will battle
it out online for a chance to perform at the Chicago festival August 7-9 in Grant Park.
Headliners this year are Depeche Mode, Tool, The Killers, a reunited Jane’s
Addiction, Beastie Boys, and Kings of Leon.
year’s online competition will be hosted by the Dell Lounge and each of the
four finalists will receive a new Dell Studio Laptop (not to mention full
access to the whole Lollapalooza grounds, plus cash prizes, hotel accommodations
and extra tix to give to friends). The last two DJ’s standing will perform
on a bill on the Perry’s all-electronic stage with Bassnectar, MSTRKRFT, Simian
Mobile Disco, and more.
Last Band Standing Remix, kicks off June 4 when DJ’s submit their best
mix at the Dell Lounge site (http://www.delllounge.com/lollapalooza). Judges
and fans will vote to narrow down the top 50 mixes – 25 from Chicago artists, and 25 DJs from around the
globe. From there, the competition heats up as DJs remix select tracks
and assets provided by Lollapalooza artists. Then fans cast their votes for
their favorite remix, with top vote-earners rocking it to the final round at
Double Door in Chicago
on August 5. At the end of the multi-round, two-month campaign, two lucky
and worthy DJs will earn prize spots on stage at Lollapalooza.
