Oneida Does, Like, the Triple-LP Thing

Kinda like the
Grateful Dead’s Europe ’72 album, but different! Or maybe we’re thinking Animal

By Blurt Staff

Coming to a trend near you: triple albums. Yes, it’s back to
the ‘70s in the indierock world, and leading the pack is Oneida. We don’t just mean three-LP sets that
can still be squeezed onto one and a half CDs: we mean three-CD sets. (That can
mean, in some instances, as much as 240 minutes, if you do the math, but Oneida’s
trying to keep things relatively under control – seee the tracklisting, below.

Rated O is the second installment of Oneida’s Thank Your Parents triptych
of releases. In August of 2008, Oneida released the first installment, Preteen
, and now, Rated O, the centerpiece of the Thank Your
trilogy, is due fro Jagjaguwar on July 7th.

Here’s some additional skinny, straight from the band…

Today we are not only proud to announce this triple
album, but also to share a new podcast in which members of Oneida provide
commentary, insight, and explanations into the inner-workings of the O.
This podcast, produced by Alex Goldman, contains three songs, “What’s Up,
Jackal?”, “I Will Haunt You”, and “Saturday”.  We
know Jagjaguwar hasn’t updated ye olde podcaste in a while, but we are making
up for it!!!  Discover why Rated
O is like drinking a 50 gallon drum of molé sauce, how you can figure
out when something is “rated O” (hint: you only realize something is
“rated O” until “way later”), and under what circumstances
Showtime (Shahin Motia of Ex-Models) joined the band.

A Rated O sampler
that contains those songs (minus commentary) is now available for free via
Emusic and for purchase on Itunes.
