It’s
always a great day when we can stare at cheesecake photos of Lita Ford, which
makes today a particularly great day because we found two of ‘em on the web.
Even better, the metal mistress has just announced her first studio album in 18
years – Wicked Wonderland is to be
released this fall on Ford’s own JLRG Entertainment label.

Ford
basically quit the music biz for the past 15 years to raise a family and live
on an album in the Caribbean, but as she put
it in a press release, “I missed rock ‘n’ roll.” To that end, Ford will be
playing festivals and motorcycle rallies in the US
and Europe this summer leading up to the
release of the album. She dipped her toes back in the water last summer at the
Rocklahoma and Rock the Bayou festivals.

“It’s
harder and sexier than anything I’ve ever done,” she said, of the record,
which was co-produced by Ford, her husband and former Nitro singer Jim
Gillette, and Greg Hampton, the songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer
known for his work with Alice Cooper, his band Science Faxtion (with Bootsy
Collins and Buckethead and Brain from Guns N’Roses) and other rock notables.
Ford is backed on the record by drummer Stet Howland, formerly of W.A.S.P.,
Hampton on bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards, Gillette on background vocals,
and its vivid cover art is by Rob Zombie bassist and solo artist Piggy D.

One
song, “Betrayal,” will be featured in the upcoming video game
“Brütal Legend,” in which Lita also voices one of the characters
alongside Jack Black, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead and Rob Halford of Judas
Priest.

Okay,
fire up all those old VH1 Classic clips of Lita on YouTube, kids….
