Mogwai Has Rescheduled US Tour

Bringing that big-boy
rock to North America after having to cancel a
number of shows last September due to illness in the band.

“Hiya, We’re able to announce the dates
of our next North American tour…”

Hiya, indeed: that’s Mogwai, at their MySpace page blog, unveiling
plans to invade the U.S. starting
in mid April and running for a month before wrapping in L.A. There are some intriguing stops in such
non-major-market cities as Salt Lake City, Omaha, Buffalo, Birmingham and
Asheville (the latter makes BLURT especially happy since that’s where our
southern bureau is located), which we think should be a trend to be encouraged;
far to many upper-tier indie bands feel like they should only play the hotspots
like NYC, Philly, D.C., Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Phoenix, L.A. and Seattle as
they make their way across the country.

It’s doubly nice to get this news since, as you can read
further down in the MySpace blog posts, the band had to cancel much of their fall
2008 North American tour due to problems that drummer Martin Bulloch was having
with his pacemaker. Here’s hoping the lad is fit as a fiddle and raring to go.
