Leonard Cohen Helps Aussie Fire Victims

Now that’s called giving

By Fred Mills

Word arrives this morning that songwriter legend Leonard
Cohen, currently on tour in Australia – he plays Melbourne tonight – will be
donating $200,000 to go to aid for the victims of the wildfires that have been
taking place in Victoria and have, thus far, already killed 181 people.

The donation is in conjunction with Cohen, Paul Kelly and
concert promoters AEG Live UK
and the Frontier Touring Company.

According to Frontier’s managing director Michale Gudinski, “Leonard
has loved his time in Australia
on this tour and is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the fires.
Leonard, Paul, their touring parties and everyone at AEGLive UK and the Frontier Touring
wish to extend their heartfelt sympathies to those that have
suffered the loss of loved ones or their homes through this terrible tragedy.”
