Aficionados of quality, enduring music this morning heave a
collective “So what?” when word hit the web of cornball guitarist Joe Satriani
suing cornball band Coldplay for plagiarism. Apparently Satch feels that the
British group lifted “substantial original portions” of his cornball 2004 song
“If I Could Fly” for the cornball track “Viva La Vida” (from Coldplay’s recent
Grammy-nomiated Viva La Vida Or Death and
All His Friends, which BLURT famously reviewed HERE and awarded it a tepid
That’s a lot of damn corn. Sounds like some chikkins comin’
home to roost.
In a report filed by the BBC, the chrome-domed plaintiff lodged his
complaint in a Los Angeles
court yesterday and is seeking the usual jury trial, all profits from the song,
blah blah blah.
Meanwhile, not long ago band called the Creaky Boards is
ALSO accusing Coldplay of plagiarism! Check out the video – ‘nuf said!
