The two are ready to
tour with new music
By Mandy Rodgers
Fiction Family is the name of the new band made up of Nickel
Creek’s guitarist, Sean Watkins, and Switchfoot’s lead singer, Jon Foreman. The
two finished their first album together, Fiction
Family, set to debut on Jan. 20. Fiction Family has been in the works since
2005 when Watkins and Foreman first began collaborating on music and
songwriting. The two met at a show featuring their other bands, REM and Wilco.
The album is now available for pre-order on the group’s Web
site (www.fictionfamily.com) and a
free download of the song “When She’s Near” is also on the site. While writing
and recording the 12-track debut album, Watkins and Foreman switched off
between vocalizing the lyrics and playing the music, which includes instruments
like a piano, steel guitar and fiddle. The tour will start in Ann
Arbor, MI on Jan. 13 and travel
through the country to end in Hollywood
CA on Feb. 7.
