Madonna Prays for McCain

Hitler, Mugabe,
McCain… what’s the difference!

By Fred Mills

With Millennium Stadium in Cardiff,
Wales,
the site of her Sticky & Sweet tour kickoff, Madonna served up a none-too-subtle slice of political commentary
just prior to the beginning of the Democratic National Convention.

A pair of video montages were included in the show: one
displayed flattering images of Gandhi, John Lennon, Al Gore and Senator Barack
Obama; the other, however, left little doubt (if there was any) where Madge’s
inclinations rest – assorted images of destruction and global warming were
followed by photos of Adolf Hitler, Zimbabwean strongman Robert Mugabe, and
Senator John McCain.

Curiously, images of A-Rod were absent from the video
screens.

McCain’s campaign team is reportedly outraged over the video
sequence. Campaign spokesperson Tucker Bounds said in a statement, “The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely
divisive all at the same time. It clearly shows that when it comes to
supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider
any smear or attack off limits.”

The McCain-Hitler-Mugabe sequence appeared
towards the end of “Get Stupid” and segued into “Like A Prayer,” appropriately
enough.
